The Mirror Ghost

The Mirror Ghost is an apparition that appears in a mirror—often an old, full-length mirror in a bedroom or hallway—when the room is empty or when the reflection does not match the person looking. In some accounts the figure is a stranger; in others it is a former resident or someone who died in the house.

Folklore and Belief

Mirrors have long been associated with the supernatural: as portals, as traps for the soul, or as surfaces that show the dead. The Mirror Ghost fits into this tradition. Sightings often occur at night or in dim light, and some witnesses report that the figure moves or gestures before fading.
