Sootfoot

Sootfoot lives in the chimney. He leaves small black footprints on the hearth and sometimes on the floor—hence his name. He is generally harmless: he may steal a biscuit or knock over a cup, but he is also said to warn of chimney fires and to bring good fortune to households that leave him a little cream.
