Sootfoot and the Chimney

The family left a saucer of cream by the hearth. In the morning it was empty and there were small black prints on the stone. That night the fire smoked and a voice came down the chimney: “Sweep.” They had the chimney swept the next day. The fire burned clear. The prints kept appearing, but the house was warm and safe. See Sootfoot for the full profile.
